Late Thursday, Rees was dethroned. “Katie Rees has been relieved of her duties as Miss Nevada USA 2007,” said Paula M. Shugart, president of the Miss Universe Organization, which owns the Miss USA pageant, according to the Associated Press.
The shocking photos came hot on the fashionable heels of a scandal that rocked reigning Miss USA Tara Conner. The pics show Rees exposing her breasts, passionately kissing other young women, and simulating EDIT EDIT with females and a male.
"The pictures were disgusting," Miss USA co-owner Donald Trump told Larry King on CNN Thursday night. "These pictures were pretty far out there and that is not representative of Miss USA. We had no choice but to terminate her."
Rees insists the raunchy behaviour in the photos was "an isolated incident."
In a statement, she said: "While I take full responsibility for the photographs, I want everyone to know the truth. This was by no means representative of who I was, who I am, or who I will become. I have no intentions to disgrace the state of Nevada, the Miss Universe Organization, or Mr. Donald Trump."
Rees believes it was unfair of pageant officials to strip her of her crown.
"I am very embarrassed by the situation. Regardless, such a brief and distant lapse in judgment does not warrant my loss of the title I worked so hard to achieve," she said in her statement.
Rees, 22, was crowned Miss Nevada in Las Vegas in October and was due to represent the state in the Miss USA pageant next spring.
Earlier this month, she was the guest of honour at a Special Olympics bowling tournament and last month attended an event for underprivileged children. But Rees showed off a much wilder side in the pictures, taken during a party in Tampa, Florida when she was 19.
Last Tuesday, Trump announced that hard-partying Miss USA Tara Conner – accused of underage drinking, drug use and promiscuous behaviour – was going to enter rehab but will keep her title.

It’s been a rough ride for Katie Rees, the former Miss Nevada 2007. Donald Trump took away her crown over some Girls Gone Wild-style photos showing her exposing a nipple and “simulating sexual acts” at a Florida nightclub, and she didn’t get to compete in the 2007 Miss USA pageant. Now she’s facing a series of meth-related charges after she was caught allegedly dealing in Vegas.
The charges against Rees, 30, were filed Monday and include “trafficking in a controlled substance, sale of a controlled substance, and two counts of conspiracy to violate the uniform controlled substances act,” the Las VegasReview-Journal reports.
Police say she sold meth to one “J. Peacock” last September, then was caught with 5.3 grams the next month. She’s also accused of working with “unknown co-conspirators.”
A warrant was issued for Rees’s arrest Wednesday. She was previously charged with resisting arrest in 2008 and drug possession in 2012

Katie Rees -- who was stripped of her Miss Nevada crown in 2006 after nude photos of her surfaced online -- was busted Tuesday night for felony possession of meth.
According to the Las Vegas Sun, Rees was the passenger in a car driven by her boyfriend that was pulled over by police for speeding and failing to signal.
The paper says that during their interrogation of Rees and her boyfriend, police found rolling papers, two smoking pipes and a canister containing what police believed to be marijuana. Cops also found, Xanax, Oxycontin and meth ... which Rees admitted to smoking earlier in the day.
Reese was booked on five different drug charges, including felony possession of meth.
The boyfriend was arrested on multiple felony counts as well.
Rees was busted in 2008 for allegedly assaulting a police officer. She was also busted on felony drug charges earlier this year.
