Re: MJ's death ruled homicide
In the wake of Michael Jackson's death, more details are emerging about the singer's dangerous drug and alcohol use and his family's attempts to stop him. According to People, the Jacksons even staged an intervention as early as 2006 to help Michael overcome his dependencies.
At the time, a family insider told the magazine,
The family believes Michael is addicted. There was an intervention in Las Vegas. Janet was on the phone, but Randy, Jackie and Rebbie were there in person.
Michael got p---ed off. He said he wasn't on drugs. But they didn't believe him. [He takes] straight morphine, Demerol and opiates like Oxycontin. He also takes Valium and Xanax.
Michael is a clinically functioning addict and these are the most dangerous. They stop and start. These are the ones that OD ... It could happen any minute.
The news coincides with a statement from family attorney Brian Oxman, who told CNN yesterday, "If you think that the case of Anna Nicole Smith was an abuse, it is nothing in comparison to what we have seen in Michael Jackson's life."
TMZ also reported today that it was an overdose of a Demerol shot -- which Jackson took daily -- that led to his death yesterday.
