I'm concerned about the airport road, most of which is at or below sea level. The work thats currently being carried out will only be able to withstand a force 2 hurricane.

That road needs to be raised really high. From what I saw earlier this year any "likkle" storm will wash it away.Out of Many One People Online

True X man, they spent a shed load of money upgrading the airport to that of any developed country, and leave the only to access it to disintegrate and at the mercy of the weather. Who is gonna buy an airport that stands a great possibly of becoming an island in the not to distant future? At the very least they would factor the cost of protecting/reparing the road to a sufficient standard as part of their due diligence and proposed purchase price.
If it is sold, don't be surprised if the GOJ ending up giving it away for peanuts.

Then they would have to repair and maintain it to a high very high standard, do you think the GOJ would have allowed the road to deteriorate to such an extent if it was Sangster's Airport?

Re: Say wattttttt!!!!
the palisados road does not only serve the airport...it would nto be fair to expect the airport operator the fully assume this responsibility.
I think the gov has to balance the expense of improving the road with the inconvenience of blockage in event of a hurricane.
how many times has the orad been blocked in the last 50 years? what is the duration of the blockage? how much did it cost to clear? what woudl it cost to construct a road that would be "unblockable"?When its hot in the jungle of peace I go swimming in the ocean of love.....

Re: Say wattttttt!!!!
Tghat road had no history of blockage.
It is a recent phenomenon, due to the erosion of the rock placements on the easter side over the years and the eventual erosion of th elarge sand dune that use to block th eview of the ocean on the eastern side.
here was even a road up there where we use to drive and park to use the beach on the eastern side of the ithsnus.<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: RichD</div><div class="ubbcode-body">the palisados road does not only serve the airport...it would nto be fair to expect the airport operator the fully assume this responsibility.
