Re: Texas man's Taser death ruled homicide
what they need to do is to use the taser to start his heart . all they need to do be able to do is adjust the voltage and position the electrodes appropriately , then zap him again. a defibrillator is really such a use of the taser.
the problem is that one have to be ALS certified to use the more advance ones.<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: bink</div><div class="ubbcode-body"> <span style="font-weight: bold"> </span> <span style="font-style: italic"> </span> <span style="color: #FF0000"> </span> Good heavens, I agree with Foolya. Seriously, the Taser needs to go. I have seen it in action and it is horrible. </div></div>

Re: Texas man's Taser death ruled homicide
I believe in removing the variable of of more training. They Can make it safer. For instance pre program it to fire a a lower voltage on an alternate basis. So that the first firing is low, the the second is higher. The problem is that the voltage is fixed, and and Dione so at a level that should be able to knock out any person first shot. this should not necessary be so. If the person is hit with Th needles in place and ten jolted mildly, as a warning. if he continue, the taser can give a higher jolt, then increase if necessary. It could also be attached to electrodes that the police officers can use to restart his heart. Now that should be where the teaching is required. tasers can be made safer, and they are much later than a firearm in the hands of an officer.<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: bink</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Thanks, Dr Dudd. Then I guess we should suggest (or demand) that cops are trained in the uses of a taser.
What you said makes complete sense. Of course it involves the heart.

Re: Texas man's Taser death ruled homicide
You are welcome.
i've appointed myself as the resident educator
voltage is not only preset, but the officer has the abillity ti continue the kengthn of the jolt. that is the most dangerous aspect. since a single hit will rarely stop the heart. but a contiious jolt certainly will. that will be the finding in the case. that is the usual cause of death other than the person is simply toosmall, forthe jolt set on it. they were developed by the Isreali's and they have a tendency toward lethal instruments safety comes a good way down the road. that uis after others decide to make it so.<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: bink</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Thanks for educating me, Dr. Dudd. I had no idea voltage was preset. That alone is frightening. Particularly in the hands of folks who do not understand that. </div></div>

Re: Texas man's Taser death ruled homicide
As I said, I have seen this in action up close and personal. It is horrific. This is an overpowering tool (close to a gun) which should not be in the hands of anyone unable to use it properly.
Frankly, I think police should not have this tool in their arsenal.
