Protestors who blocked the main access points to Prickly Pole in Claremont, St Ann are demanding information on the J$3 million allocated to pave the grounds of the primary school.
The residents say they are yet to hear from Lisa Hanna, Member of Parliament for St Ann South Eastern, about the allocation of the funds.
They also demanded the reinstatement of Vinette Robb Oddman as Chairman of Prickly Pole Primary.
One protester, who identified himself as Otis, said the residents mounted the roadblocks at 5am on Thursday.
The protesters restricted the movement of personnel from the Office of the Children's Advocate who are conducting investigations in the area.
JTA endorsement
The Jamaica Teachers’ Association (JTA), meanwhile, has endorsed the removal of Robb Oddman as the school’s Chairman.
In a statement on Thursday, the Association reminded the Minister of Education and the National Council on Education of the critical role school boards play in the education system.
It said persons appointed to those positions should have the education of the nation’s children as their sole agenda.
Funds
Copncerning the work that should have been done at the school, Ian Bell, Councilor for the Beecher Town Division in St. Ann, has declared that it is unclear whether the funds for the project are still at the implementing agency.
Bell told RJR News that he is a member of the constituency's Executive and, according to him, the allocation of funds for the school was never discussed or approved. He added that some persons have been misled through pamphlets being circulated in the constituency.
Bell is the only one of four councilors in the constituency supporting Lisa Hanna's candidacy.
