my basic message is that the words

CAUCASOID
NEGROID
MONGOLOID

are absolutely worthless in terms of classifying humans by 'race' and has done more harm than bombs & guns to humanity

Jah Youth, I agree with you. J. A. Roger the historian who covers the ADWA war and was close friend of Selassie clearly stated in his book that Ethiopian denounce being called Caucasian.

Afta his experiences wid who were supposed to be honourable reps of the white world, u can see y he would want to distance himself from their classification ...don't?

" ETHIOPIA" refers to a nation state (former empire),not an ethnic group or race .The traditionally dominant groups (Haile Selassie's people) tend to have an heightened sense of superiority over the black " slave races".
Many ,if not most of us ,need to look beyond the great kings and queens thing;history is much more complex than that.

you put a lot of stock into that word;

ask yourself these questions:

who created the word?
what does it mean?
what is its root?

the word comes from being a person whose origin was in the caucasus mountains of europe...
how does this relate to a person from ethiopia?
how is a person from ethiopia, who lives in the cradle of humanity, orignate from the caucasus mountains?

the oromos are the majority ethnic group in ethiopia;

it is obvious that you don't know that haile selassie's dominant ethnic makeup was oromo...
just because amharic was the official language of ethiopia & the amhara culture dominated does not mean that every emperor was amhara;
emperor menelik is also called amhara although he was obviously from one of the blacker ethnic groups of ethiopia;
mengistu hailemariam was also accused of amhara chauvinism, when he is even blacker than menelik;

nope i don't see it;

i have never seen an instance where the emperor used words like 'caucasian' or 'negro' or 'mongoloid';

but i have seen time & time again his use of the word 'african'...
we are africans; the people of that continent-

tricknology words like 'negro' & 'caucasian' have no effect on us because we know where we are from and where we are going;

the african came first;
and NEVER named himself 'caucasian'...
this was a term created by european 'scientists' to classify humans into categories of which they gave names;
they hypothesized that humanity can be broken down into three basic 'races':

-caucasoid (whites)
-negroid (blacks)
-mongoloid (yellows)

they hypothesized that every other people are just a combination of these three foundation races...

but if you look closer- you will see that 'negroid' is the only one of those classifications based on a color (negro= latin for black);
the otehr two classifications are based on geographical references...
this is the first clue that this is flawed science;

a term like 'nubioid', or 'nile-oid' would be more in line with the other two classifications;
or else they should have called white 'blancoid' and yellow 'amarilloid' if they were dealing with color;

as i have said a thousand times- those words purporting to classify humanity are as good as the stuff i flush down my toilet;

a hundred or even fifty years ago i would have been called a 'negro'...
yet today i know this is garbage;
definitions change so why should i hold on to false definitions that i now know are complete nonsense?

yea i have much respect for the yard man j.a. rogers;

he tackled african history & perspectives & discovered truly amazing facts to counteract the white supremacists;
this man should be a jamaican national hero (although they couldn't do that when they still mis-educate the people)-
he can also be considered one of the founding fathers of rastafari- even more so than garvey if you want to keep it 100% real
