<span style="color: #CC0000"><span style="font-size: 20pt">A Handbook of Information for Visitors and Intending Residents.</span></span> claims and i qoute &quot;&quot;<span style="font-size: 20pt">The negro race has at present gone but a short way on the path of civilisation. The individuals are still as children, childlike in belief and faith. Once gain their confidence and they will trust implicitly&quot;</span>. obviously in 1928 the tricknology against i and i people was a lot more overt and in-your-face due to lack of knowlege compared to today;

the history is there, unfortunately people would rather 'dagger'than learn about who they are, where they came from and where they are going...
we even had esteemed elders &amp; leaders to remind us..but all i see is 'daggerin' or the latest dj beef;

some of us even accept the definitions and classifications these demons have labeled us with and go about acting it out to prove their 'gods' correct;

I find it generally so during that period. How else would they accept Bustamante, as their leader, after the '38 worker's strike?
I mean he served his purpose , but after that he sold them out, Now that was a full 10 years after.
And even today the majority of Jamaicans still are mesmerized by his antics. They still cannot piece together his life history, without exposing a lot of his conflicting views with what they now accept about him. Do you realize that the BITU was and probably still is the only trade union that is a privately held company, owned by him and his now his estate?
Most of the nationalistic fervor you see today was not in existence in the majority f Jamaican in the 20's. Remember that the majority did not have the ability to read. and those who did, only read from very limited texts.
I think that it was in the 60's after independence, when a wider availability of books and the introduction of television that brought the American black struggles to them. that they start showing some self promotion and national zeal.
During the 20's periods they were not even allowed to attend high schools.
And only recently have high schools places become wide scale available. although still not universally. Education changes behavior. and appropriate education creates appropriate expressions of life.

Unfortunately i have to agree with the quote in by original post.How else could one explain the 1980 general election. When a country with a predominantly black population elected a foreign born Lebanese American as its leader.As the excerpt from the book states&quot;<span style="color: #FF0000">childlike in belief and faith. Once gain their confidence and they will trust implicitly</span>&quot;In Jamaica blacks still have a tendency to trust implicitly, anyone that is of another race ,foolishly thinking that these people have their best interest at heart.
It comes as no surprise to me, that the economy is almost completely dominated by none black Jamaicans.A interesting fact, the PSOJ does not have a single black person in its hall of fame.

You may take this for a joke, but if you realize that the original Red stripe producers were black. The person who attempted to start the first housing scheme was a black person. Those as the majority of which I could name,were started by blacks, include the 1938 strike on the wharf and sugar factories. They solicitors of the days and financiers registered them out of the organizations. Many did not even know that the organizations they formed were registered and owned by the usurpers. any one who beleives in god is child like in their beliefs.. As for 80.. as the line went..

the choice was a a continued bankrupt incompetence.. Seaga for all his faults was chosen... you may not like him.. but I have faith in the choices that Jamaicans made in every singel election.. .. they were driven by the highest form of poltics... personal need....incidentally the Jamaican electorate is made up of 3 sectors.. JLP, PNP a nd swing.. that time the swings voted almost exclusively for the JLP that was unique...

Again and for all his faults Seaga must be remebered for the fact he could have made himself leader for life...he did not in 1983....

Could it be that they voted for what they considered to be the best option amongst the nominees,....instead of voting for someone simply because he/she was black.

A prime example of a &quot;childlike&quot; people is a people who cannot police them selves. We have white, none Jamaican citizens making law enforcement decisions . As far as i know there is no other country on this planet, that allows no citizens in their police force.To show how much we look up to the white foreign police, we even pay them more that our local police officers. what a piece a poppy show Marcus Garvey must be rolling in his grave.
If our people were not &quot;childlike&quot; they would have found a way to force their government to change this policy of hiring foreigners to &quot;lack&quot; up black people.this is a text book example of gaining their confidence and they &quot;will trust implicitly&quot;.
