Six members of one family are now dead following a gruesome attack at the five-roon house in Mark Town, Green Island, Hanover on Thursday night.
The police report that at about 11 PM, gunmen shot up the house before setting the premises ablaze. Four of the occupants managed to escape the blaze, but six others were not so lucky.
The dead are reported to be three males and three females ages ranging from teenagers to 73-years.
Police report that, when they were summoned to the scene, the heat from the inferno was so intense that they had to stand 50 feet away while firefighters battled the blaze.
Green Island a once peaceful district, has become a hell-hole with rival gangs taking the law into their own hands and in the community and have law-abiding citizens trembling in fear. A number of lives have been taken and others shot and injured as the hoodlums rule with an iron fist.
Police said investigations are at an early stage.
The identities of the six persons slaughtered in the gruesome gun and arson attack in Mark Town, Green Island, Hanover have been released.
They are 63-year-old Linette Bloomfield; Kerry-Ann Bloomfield, 36; Mark Bloomfield, 40; Alliah Mahabee, 17; Avion Mahabee, 15; and Brian Mangaroo, 19.
The burnt remains of the six were found among the completely destroyed five bedroom board house, which was the scene of the attack which occurred about 11pm Thursday.
Police report that residents heard loud explosions and realised that the building was on fire.
Four others who occupied the building managed to escape with severe burns and have been admitted to the Noel Holmes Hospital.
