I know SOME people get tired of you hollering racism or whatever....

But for as long as I can remember one sat and listed to a President with respect... then AFTER said speech was over, all major networks gave air time to the opposition for rebuttal or opinion. NEVER in the history of this land can I remember anyone yelling out during a PResidential address...

I'm sorry , but I have to think it is because THIS PResident is not afforded the respect given to others.

That's how I see it here too. It's pathetic!

In the setting of a joint session the Office of President commands respect, plain and simple. Yes, Bush was booed in similar circumstances, which again, as much as I couldn't stand him was still in bad taste IMHO, but there is a big difference between a concert of boos and being called a liar.

I have to agree with that Marilyn. Had it been any other whyte president there would have been NO outbursts.

The ignorance shown while The President was speaking was beyond words. But then what can you expect from ignoramouses?

The disrespect shown to him is unbelievable. We can only hope and pray that it gets better for him.

I agree with you Marilyn. If roles were reversed you can be sure that an outburst by a person of color would not be tolerated.

and even McCain had to back away from these statements - similiar to his response when Obama was called a muslim at those rallies

i think we are at the boiling point of blatant racism and this outburst and the ensuing conversation is going to backfire and make more people realize that the divide is about not being able to accept anything a black president/man is going to propose

everytime i hear &quot;we must take back our country&quot; - sounds like code to me

not sure how the republicans will rebuild their party - they seem to have their heads in the sand promoting unity - while the generation we are &quot;leaving the bill to&quot; are getting browner and more diverse

NEVER</span> would he have screamed out if it were a white president speaking – never. Wouldn’t happen. Plain and straight.

There will always be (imho or at least there will always be in my lifetime) a feeling amongst too many whites, that you can treat african americans with just a <span style="font-style: italic">leeetle </span>bit less respect than someone who is not white. No matter the person’s station or position – the black man will always be just a little bit less worthy than you.

(CNN) — Less than a day after Rep. Joe Wilson formally apologized to President Obama over his &quot;you lie&quot; outburst, a campaign aide confirms to CNN the South Carolina Republican has raised &quot;more than $200,000&amp;#8243; in the wake of the now-infamous moment.

News of that cash haul comes after Wilson directly asked in a Web video for campaign cash to fend off attacks from political opponents and said he's standing by his opposition to Democratic efforts at health care reform.

&quot;On these issues, I will not be muzzled, I will speak up and speak loudly against this risky plan,&quot; Wilson said in a YouTube video released Thursday evening. &quot;The supporters of the government takeover of health care and the liberals who want to give health care to illegals are using my opposition as an excuse to distract from the critical questions being raised about this poorly conceived plan.&quot;

The congressman disbursed the video via Twitter and asked his followers to &quot;please watch and pass on.&quot;

&quot;[Democrats] want to silence anyone who speaks out against it,&quot; Wilson also says in the video. &quot;They made it clear they want to defeat me and pass the plan. I need your help now… contribute to my effort to defeat the proponents of government-run health care.&quot;

his <span style="font-weight: bold">opponent</span> got <span style="font-size: 17pt">$500,000</span> in ONE DAY after Wilson's outburst. <span style="font-weight: bold">DNC received $1,000.000 in a day</span>

so far 2:1 in favour of the democrats


But the real issue is the LACK OF RESPECT shown to the President of the United States and considering RESPECT is something the republicans claim they have, it is hard to see this LACK of RESPECT as anything else but RACISM
