NASSAU, Bahamas (AP) — Retired Bahamian sprinter Andrew Tynes has been charged with sexually assaulting a 16-year-old boy who was a student at the school where he taught gym.
Tynes, 37, was charged with indecent assault on a minor Wednesday in a hearing before Chief Magistrate Roger Gomez. Investigators allege Tynes performed a sex act on the youngster at his apartment in late August.
Tynes, a 200-metre specialist who won gold medals at the 1993 Central American and Caribbean Games and the 1993 Central American and Caribbean Championship, denied any wrongdoing and was released after posting US$6,000 bond.

His lawyer, Ramona Farquharson, declined to comment Thursday and telephone calls to Tynes' home went unanswered.
The sprinter is due back in court Monday, when a trial date is expected to be set.
