yu know, dis is tru ie nuh... but di majority a di black students mi encounter tend to be angry, full of attitude, apathetic about their studies, and only interested in the latest jam on hot 93.7, the latest urban fashion trend and the crap they show on tv. Ask me why these girls are coming to school in those spandex tights when they are not allowed. And the boys wearing their pants around the knees when they have to wear a belt in their pants and keep their underwear underneath.

and like i said..these are the kids of parents who are nurses, teachers, and other professionals who live in the suburbs. Imagine if they were living in the city and mom working two jobs at McD's or BK trying to get by on whatever she makes, not having enough time to check homework or even see to it that they attend school on a regular basis. yes I used to live in the city and I know that not all the kids end up that way. but it was a vast majority that do. plus the staff is so over extended with security working the metal detectors, breaking up fights, and doing spot checks for illegal drugs, not to forget the disrespect (mostly from the girls). It is hard for a stellar student to excel when the staff is so burnt out and not able to help mold them.

I have relatives in the black suburban school systems who have told me with their own mouths that they had access to drugs at school and that was where they learned all they know about it...

So please forgive me if I want my kids to have a good opportunity to excel in school. We both know that the resources available to white students are great compared to black students. And the sad thing is that there are magnet schools that give black students the same opportunities yet still it does not seem to make a huge difference....

I went up to Syracuse U. for a summer program back when I was in college and since it was a short program I was in a dorm with three other students. Two were from NY and one from Mass.

What I learned that summer of 1993, made my head spin. We decided to have a honest and frank discussion about how different life is for each of us and for some reason we got on the subject of discrimination, poor housing, bad schooling and the poor people in those &quot;ghettos&quot;.

I plan to publish the story one day but I guess it wouldn't hurt to share this tidbit.

Sadie told me that in her town (Croton-on-the-Hudson) in NY, her uncle was the police chief, her aunt was a manager at the City Hall and most of her family and friends' families work in the town and run a tight ship...(cops, fire-fighters, teachers, mailmen/women, restaurant owners, shopkeepers, cab drivers, bus drivers, bankers, hospital workers, real estate agents etc.) they serve as the &quot;eyes&quot; for the community and because of that, they look out for and take care of each other, and anything they need in terms of resources, is made instantly available.

She doubt that they would allow anyone from the outside to work in their schools, libraries, or become city employees because they will not let any service that is to better the community, deteriorate by employing people who were not committed.

Kim told me that in her town, the &quot;caring people of the town&quot; would not allow anyone who was not related to someone in the town to move in, because it would &quot;tarnish&quot; the makeup and the intentions of the town's good reputation. They all nodded in agreement.

She asked me if I'd ever heard the term &quot;there goes the neighborhood&quot;? I told her no, so she proceeded to explain to me what it meant and how passionate people in her neighborhood were about not allowing their neighborhood to &quot;go&quot;, and they would be prepared to fight to keep things the way they are, even if it is down to bribing the real estate agents not to sell-out.

Catherine said that in Centereach, Long Island, where she is from, all neighbours KNOW that they can call the police/firefighters personal phones at anytime day or night and they will be there in no time, even if it is to get their cat out of a tree.

They all agreed that if anyone is let in, it is after much scrutiny and it is usually to keep activists quiet. I was stunned to say the least.

Anyway, we are free to live where we want to, but the last thing we should believe is that black people live in the ghettos because black people are criminals and cannot learn.

Bad neighborhoods just like better ones, are that way by concentrated effort, dedication and hard work. They are the way they are by design.

If in 2009, so-called educated people are still blaming the victims of the ghetto for their plight, with all the information that is readily available about the why, when and how, then I am convinced that we AS BLACK PEOPLE, WHETHER WE LIVE UPTOWN OR DOWNTOWN are collectively doomed to hell.

Oh the drugs!! That is soo true of the wealthy neighborhoods in my county. The kids have parties in their parents home while the parents are away. One woman I know refused to move back to her <span style="font-weight: bold">parents compound</span> because she did not want her kids in that school system

When I lived in red neck city, Dallas, there was a neighborhood across my street called Highland Park the elite racist over there were referred to as &quot;caring people of the town.&quot;

The black female maids wouldn't dear allowed their black male family to offered them ride to work as they were always harass by the &quot;caring people of that town.&quot;

Until you fully grasp the profound evil of the white global system you too will blame blacks for filling the prisons, jails, juvenile and the ghetto neighborhoods.

It took me years of travel and researched to become free of the physiological inherited racial lies.

Well I dont know about the US or the canadian ghettos,but here in the UK black ghettos equal crime,poor housing,low unemployment,and people all up in each others business,not to mention the stigma of being labeled,victimised,stereotyped,and discriminated by all and sundry once you put your post code on paper.

I moved to the country 20 years ago,I didnt make a conscious decision to move into a white neighborhood per se,just wanted a quiet spot for me and my family,and to give my children a chance to grow up outside a ghetto environment,...the fact that where I live is predominantly white does not bother me in the least,it`s never been a problem,not for me,and I dont see it beig a problem for anyone,I live opposite a typical english country pub,people sit outside during the summer and drink ale and it`s all very typically english,and I enjoy living where I do.
I own a place in spain and I dont see any black people at all in my little spanish village,except for rafael who has just come over from cuba with the lady from the village who owns one of the local bars,she is 45 and rafael is 22 and she brought him back from her holiday to cuba and announced to everyone in the village they they are man and wife,now me and rafael are brothers,and as we both dance salsa fantastically we are admired by all the local ladies,,...I am told that there is a jamaican lady who live in the next town who teaches english and I am dying to meet her,..all in all I think it`s interesting to &quot;get away&quot; sometime,..life is too short to get bogged down with colour.....Sorry I digressed there a bit....LOL !

I live in the suburb and my street is very diverse with lots of Indians, Asians, blacks, whites etc.

These are the things I observed:
1. Although drugs are covertly accessible in the schools and neighborhood there are tons of alternative escape with the many available resources.
2. There are full funded school for very bad kids (inner city only jails).
3. Several homes seems to have stay home mom because they're at the park during the day. (inner city dad in jail)
4. Parents can also affords expensive after school enrichment program which keeps the kid very busy.
5. 90% of kids goes off to college because teachers are paid well, new text books annually, free PSAT, AP and SAT prep and the kids gets free bus tour to colleges etc. etc. (inner city has no funds)
6. The county pays top salary and people do better job when paid well.

so just thinking about it in that way, a school in a higher income area will always have more resources.
