#1.. No!, one is only part of the other. Free Enterprise is only one aspect of Capitalism (my opinion)

#2.. The Big boys of the USA do understand it but they dont abide by the RULES...

OK I will answer as I would have done had it been an applied economics class.

Since applied economics is not widely taught in colleges, and have never really been taught on a wide enough basis, the myth that claim that economics is an art has been widely promoted and believed by many.
At the end we may see why applied economics is not more widely taught in colleges.


OK here we go in applied economic terms.

Freeenterprise is the theory of freedoms of the use of the 3 factors of production ( Land, labor and capital), restricted by market functions to create wealth by exchange of services.

capitalism on the other hand, is the theory based on the <span style="font-weight: bold"> supremacy of capital</span> of the 3 factors of production.

The factors being capital labour and land.

One can recognize the differences in these theories, in observation their functions in the economy.

Not just domestic economics, but international economics.

It also explain why the countries with the largest suppliers of primary materials, or possessing the labour pools, are usually the weakest economies.

so after defining the first question the others should be relatively easy to decide.

The US does understand and abide by the rules of capitalism. That is why they privatise profits, but socializes losses.

This Is because they see capital as the primacy of of factors of production.
That being accepted it is only logical for it to experience primacy of benefits under all conditions.

. So What you are seeing is thee cataclysmic change in the economic system from quietly played out before the eyes of all. but recognized by a few.

That is why the relatively new term &quot;human capital&quot; is now being given the level of importance it is today.

The powers that be, not wanting to admit this change are set to switch the label 'capital' form it's monetary state' to a wider state to include skilled labour.

This is a trespass on the turf of labour, but if admitted, may seem to much of a quasi socialist connotation.

Doc, I will start with my attempted analysis of your answer to the 3rd question: I find it rather intriguing because of the assumption by many, that it was almost a perfect system with a few faults. Me personally, have come to realize that the Capitalistic system is not as sacrosant as I once thought... 2007, will long be remembered as the year &quot;Western or US led Capitalism was shaken to its knees. We are supposedly bouncing back, but from all indications, we are not out of the woods yet...

I've always had some mis-givings about what was called &quot;unbridled capitalism&quot; which conjours up &quot;run-away&quot; like a wild horse in the dessert which is exactly what happened.. ~ From your explanation, me as well as others with doubts about its soundness, our fears have been verified. Cataclysmic changes are taking place and I'm glad I'm recognizing it... Thanks for your answers and lesson, hope others will chime in to help analyse them all as well...
