Ok So here in Memphis we have the Civil Right Museum (world class in my opinion, and the one thing I tell visitors to this city NOT to miss, NOT Elvis house LOL). Every year they pick 3 people to give the prestigious MLK Freedom award to.
This year, the Dahli Lhama was one of the 3.
So picture this. First a little background our crazy mayor (sometimes just being Black in a majority Black city does NOT make one qualified to govern), resigned after 18 years in office prior to his term being complete. Our Mayor Pro Tem, former city council Pres., was dispatched to greet the Dahli Lhama.
With the Mississippi river as a backdrop. He indicated to the Dahli Lhama to bump closed fists with him 3 times as a greeting (which I thought was basically a Jamaican thing, I know I never saw it until I went to Jamaica...African Americans do hand shakes followed with a sports guy style hug),
and then he says "I've always wanted to have a chance to say this...Hello Dahli"
Ok so what you guys think,,,,this has caused much controversey here.
the Dahli Lhama laughed it off after a moment of confusion. I personally feel a bit more decorum would have been in order when meeting a figure of world influence of this magnitude.
