at one point in my life i owed $30,000 from buying pretty shoes and clothes every seasonal change the only way i came out of it was to use some the profit from selling mi house and pay it. learned from my stupidity.

I once bought an expensive piece of equipment, with interest free if paid in 18 months.

i paid it off with the time, and was evaluated as a poor credit risk.
this was because they couldn't make any interest earnings off me.

Yes that really happen and more often than you expect of you don't check these things.

the first card i had was an american express wid mi furst job. back then my earnings were considered &quot;good&quot; so dem extend mi credit. the only thing was you had to pay it off every month. no running balance. with good credit you are extended more. more. more. i had three gold cards and a automative (crappy tire) card at one time.

I remember the old Amex card.

you couldn't carry balances, but you also paid no interest if the balance is paid off before a set time too.

Now they have even card that you can select what you want to pay off and what you want to carry.
I think they are scraping the bottom of the barrel, these days.

And they don't see anything yet.
In another year they will be back to behaving like they are honest to get people using their services. yeh the crappy tire card (canadian tire) also had a huge limit. i once had my timing belt changed on my maxima by the thieving bastards for mussi $1,300. i wouldn't lie about this. i have no interest in lying to internet strangers.

Well the private cards are the worst thing to use. They start with a high interest rate and continue with a highintest rate.
The only value they have is that, they are the easiest means of starting a credit history if you don't have money in the bank.

Otherwise they take you for fool if you keep using them.

Timing belt change it can be really expensive at sears etc, because when it goes, you can't start that vehicle, and it is dead in the water ,wherever it stops.

Of course they will. They are making money without giving any service.
Since they get the credit from the bank at less than5% and then lend it to you at 25%. They make more than the bank off these cards.
If they put 1 million out there they make 200,000 per year with nothing to lose. since they take out insurance on credit they offer you and pay another 1% to cover that.
