Bye bye, Antigua. Carnival cruise line will no longer stop on the tropical island, it announced on Thursday - as six of their passengers from Brooklyn busted for assaulting cops stand trial.
Carnival denied the Sept. 4 brawl sank its relationship with Antigua - insisting it simply "had a desire to incorporate a new port of call."
But the move comes as the families of six pals from Brooklyn protest the Antiguan justice system.
The six got into a dispute with a cabbie the families said was trying to shake them down. A fight erupted and cops got involved. The six standing trial maintain the officers were in street clothes and never identified themselves.
A spokesman for the families of the six applauded Carnival's move: <span style="font-weight: bold">"It's the right decision and we hope the [Antiguan] government takes seriously how its visitors are treated," said Kevin Powell. </span>
<span style="font-weight: bold">Antiguan officials were stunned and said the Carnival stops represent 20% of their port arrivals. </span>
A judge could reach a verdict on Friday. The six could be jailed for up to two years, but it's more likely they will be fined up to $4,000 if they're found guilty.
