Labour Minister Pearnel Charles has hit back at claims by the National Workers Union (NWU), that his ministry
is undermining Jamaican workers by providing work permits to foreigners.
The NWU has claimed that the labour ministry is actively issuing permits to foreign workers on behalf of hotels
which want to get rid of Jamaican workers.
The matter was again highlighted during the tabling of the Supplementary Estimates in Parliament on Tuesday.
Opposition Member of Parliament, Dr. D.K. Duncan asked the labour minister if there was any truth to the NWU’s claim.
In his response, Mr Charles rubbished the allegation.
