Pepper, Happy to hear the turtle made its way back to it's own yard.

I grew up with a yard full of animals, and yes I had turtles, as well as ducks that I kidnapped from a local pond and put it in my back yard.

Hennyway, the thing is, it most likely will come back into your yard, maybe not from the same spot, but if for some reason it liked your yard, it will come back. My neighbors were for ever calling me or my Dad to say that my turtles were in their yard again. Other then eating some leafy plants, why would anyone feel like it's troublesome. Jeeze, sue someone for their turtle coming in your yard? Or move because of it, nah, it's only a turtle! I do understand that you didn't know what to do, but really, they are easy going, for the most part and can't even run to attack you or run from you. lol

the ones on the beach are usually fenced off. saw tons of nests back in june when i was there, if yuh even look pan dem too hard yuh get fined

I hope he doesn't come back. I am not a fan of any type of animal.

Looks like he was a pet, the neighbors put some kind board or plastic deep down in the ground by where he burrowed through. Hopefully he will take that as sign and stay put.

I'll catch up with them at some point and ask them about their pet.
