A 27-year-old woman who was found dead inside a Calgary home with the bodies of three babies appeared to keep to herself and didn't seem to have many friends, community members say.
Khalil Karbani, president of the Taradale Community Organization, said that the woman wasn't well known in the tight-knit, northeast Calgary neighbourhood.
"Everyone I've spoken to so far doesn't seem to know her," Karbani told CTV News Channel on Friday.
"She kept to herself, we're actually struggling to find family members so we can communicate with them."
The bodies of Harsimrat Kahlon and three infants were discovered on Sunday, but police only made the discovery public on Thursday. They have yet to reveal the cause of death or if the woman was the children's mother.
Calgary Police Duty Insp. Rob Williams said that autopsies have been completed on the bodies, but the cause of death won't be confirmed until more testing is done. Any new information in the case likely won't be made public until next week.
The woman's death isn't considered suspicious, but according to local reports, the bodies of the three infants were found wrapped in plastic.
"Their deaths are definitely considered suspicious in nature," Williams said on Thursday night.
Meanwhile, Karbani said that the community is struggling to come to terms with the deaths and wondering if anything could have been done to prevent it.
"We don't know anything about her," he said, adding that some neighbours have said that children lived at the home, while others have said otherwise.
One neighbour said that he often saw a pregnant woman walk into the basement suite.
CTV News Calgary reported Friday that Kahlon worked as a receptionist at a Calgary law firm, and that she had been staying with her boyfriend in the basement suite for about two years.
Police first received a call saying that a body was in the home. Later, officers arrived and found the children.
