I love this.... It cuts like a scalpel.. I would love Marcia Grifhts to do a version.. proves that white men can write a great songs...Best version was the first one I heard was by Sweet Honey on the rock//

Seriously though I thought about this because some one mentioned Deportee today.... I always think when ever that term Deportees are bandy about that term for years as the problem of crime in Jamaica.. simply create a label and condem us...

A rather interesting thread and commentary as well.

I like the Byrds version...a very sad song echoing the reality of man's inconsideration and even injustice to man...[the comment that they are just deportees, so what does it matter if they die] ...I take consolation in one comment, hinting that [paraphrased] &quot;sooner or later, we will all be deportees from this life and even the land.&quot;

Emmi Lou Harris does a version wid Arlo Guthrie an ar voice is perfect.. Even Dolly have a version.. I am sure Billy Holliday did a version.... but I cant find it..

Still would love a reggae version.... Given that it is apt at the moment given how often young yankis are dumped back ah yard...
