Kingston Immigration

My cousin and her family (husband, 2 children) just got back from Kingston. They went for about 4 days to attend a funeral. They filled out the required forms and included the street address of where they were staying.

The immigration officer let them know that 123 main street, Kingston was not a sufficient address. She needed to know the name of the section of Kingston they were going to. My cousin was born in the states, her husband is from Kingston, and migrated as a pre-teen. They didn't have a clue.

My cousin pulled out her address book and looked up the address, and informed the lady that is the exact address she uses for mailing, and the item always reaches, so what else does she need? She has the street address, its kgn 20, what else.

Kgn 20 covers a large area. I need the specific location. The agent refused to budge. They had to pull out their cell phones and start calling relatives. Nobody could remember the exact name of the area. Finally, they got someone that said 'oh I think is Barbican' So approximately 40 minutes later, they added Barbican to the form. Yes they used their own personal US cell phones to call people in JA and the US.

So they put Barbican on the form. The agent called over to the fellow at the next window 'is Barbican in Kingston 20?' He shrugged, I dunno. So di eediat ooman stamp dem form dat dem was going to Barbican Kingston 20.

Anybody ever hear bout nutten like dis before? I told my cousin she should have asked for a supervisor. But her children are 3 and 7, and they had connected in Miami to get to KIN. So I guess she just wanted to get away from that fool.

No...never heard of this. (and never had the issue, cause me know mi home address by heart )

i remember when a friend was coming to visit me in Jamaica and didn't have my address, the agent actually gave them a phone book and tell them fi just pick a hotel and write down the address.

this was years ago and maybe immigration toughen up now ?? me nuh know sah.

yuh know recently the immigration officers have been goin on like this. I used to put my father old office address (since the house rural it was simpler) so this time di man ask mi ..is that where you will be staying ..i said that is the mailing address...him sey well i need the address where you actually will be staying. had to change the form

Maybe because Barbican is not in that postal zone.
Or tech address was not in the postal zone they put on the paper.
the immigration have means of checking the validity of address from where they are,you know.
It is the days of laptop. So if you give an erroneous address, they could recognize it and request you verify and change it.
Jamaica is small enough, that these things can be easily checked.
remember ..or maybe you are not aware that they just put the Jamaica streets on GPS, which is available to the immigration officers.
they don't have much more to do so they check all these details.

this only happen where there is an obvious error. when the immigration question you., they already realize that it don't ad up. this they don;''t tell you.
Remember they are not cops any more.
all they have tp do is that.

so they use up the GPS and is very familiar with the place on it.
they can also simply put the address in and verify it while you are there. which they do these days.

Dudd, dem ungle put dung Barbican after making several calls and someone said they think the house is in Barbican. If she did know what she was dealing wid, dem ood probably still be at her counter today.

She accepted Barbican and send them through. So she nay know where dem was staying eeida.

OK dat me could understand. But dem had di proper address, wid kgn 20. What diff if is Pembroke Hall or Duhaney Park?

It would be good if everybody did have a proper address. Aldoah dem couldda fine me if me go to me granny house. We a look fi one farrinah name Pepper. She suppose fi a stay somewhere in Somerton. See har picture here. Yeah dem could find me.....
