remember it says how long u staying...so they know that u dont reside in jamaica.

and i usually write down the american passport # on the doc.

so thats probably why she ask for it.

Star – the answer is a simple one while at the same time, <span style="font-style: italic"><span style="text-decoration: underline">can</span></span> be a complex one as well.

People have asked this question repeatedly for decades and always will.

Many have their own shade of what’s true and what’s not where this matter is concerned.
Most often, people make it more complicated than it has to be.

The simple answer is – yes – said person has dual citizenship.

You have a Jamaican passport – then yes, you’re a Jamaican National, a Jamaican Citizen.

You have a US passport – then yes, you're a US National, a US Citizen.

Regardless of what any immigration / customs officer tells you – using common sense, if you just think about it, you see the answer.

However – the USA does NOT recognize the fact, they don’t care, that you are also a JA Citizen.

For example and put crudely - when the time comes and JA invades Miami, Houston or NY, the US Govt will expect you to take up arms against JA. When you signed that Naturalization Certificate, that is one of the responsibilities you agree to accept when you become a US Citizen.

Similarly, JA doesn’t care that you are a US Citizen. Should Yankee land decide to invade and overthrow yardie, Golding and Portia will fully expect you to protect and defend The Rock.

... and side note – when entering JA, never advisable <span style="font-size: 8pt">(not saying that you did Star)</span> to whip out BOTH your US AND JA passport to begin processing entry at the immigration counter.

Unfortunately, some of the immigration agents are not as properly trained and knowledgeable regards port of entry regulations as they should be.

That, plus di fak summa dem suh facey ah renk - as much as possible, I’d avoid any in depth dialogue with them about such matters.

officially the us does not recognise dualcitizenship,once you swear loyalty to them you are considered a us citizen.


You can probably use one or the other passport to travel,but its not recommended that you use both on any one journey.

i was in Barbados one time and nobody in the caricom line an mi stan up in the everlasting visitor line
