With the many studies and ideas presented the solutions are there to reducing crime in Jamaica. It is just that no one has bothered to implement them. It boils down to leadership.

I recall hearing about a software program being used by a police department on the North Coast to calculate crime patterns. It allowed them to put manpower to reduce crime. I heard it was successful and was to go island wide. Have not heard anything and figure it has been dropped (no leader to take it all the way). Anyone heard anything?

PS: Please note that this is not a solution as the crime issue is more complex than just using prevention tools.

A perfect set up for those who are ready to take it over and make it into prosperous city with the blacks as their slaves. I can hear the diaspora Jamaicans shouting their support now. Until they realize what they are in for. Then the look on their miserable faces.,
when they realize that they have no rights in Jamaica. And start wishing they had some sense.
What always hurt them the most is to realize that they were really dumb all this time.

If you hear it was successful. you were hearing from the marketing arm of the software manufacturers.

No amount of pattern study will solve Jamaica's high murder rate.

What they found was the criminals were mobile and dynamic. They
move around and change their strategy constantly.

Crime in Jamaica can not be cut overnight though better policing. You have to use a multifaceted approach that not only fights existing crime, but also create jobs, trains people for these jobs, keeps the money in Jamaica, reduce inflation, better control of the borders, fight corruption and many other necessery steps required to offer better alternatives to crime.

It all boils down to leaders in each ministry taking drastic steps to correct the wrongs of the last generation. This is hampered by majority of the budget going to debt servicing, complacency, corruption and lack of vision. Someone said Bruce should resign. What will that accomplish. We'll have Portia back. She done anything for the country?

I don't see the right calibre of leaders present in either party at the moment that are suitable to govern Jamaica with any noticable results.

I think I read somewhere (not an official source) that Renato Adams is interested in the job as Chief. This is not a fact and probably could be just a rumor. There is a face book fan page for him called The Official Campaign To Bring Back Renato Adams onto the Streets

just because one trickster move out does not mean the other has to move in...
we have become brainwashed &amp; indoctrinated into the two-party system of accepted corruption &amp; misrule;
i just hope j-a does not become a failed state, but they are heading that way if there is no order in the country;
i am blown away by how much better jamaica could be if the talents of all its people could be put to use, especially returning residents...but they don't want to go back due to fear...so the country loses out on all that human &amp; financial capital; and the politrixters pay lip service...
they are either unable or unwilling to take control of the situation and how long before some kind of situation creates the climate for an invasion by america...

i can't tell you how many jamaicans i have heard say they will never go back to that country to live because <span style="font-weight: bold">the people there are too wicked</span>

i have even started to wonder if jamaica is cursed due to innocent arawak &amp; african blood shed;
after all these years we have only gotten worse and that is alarming...sense of nation &amp; pride &amp; morality is far less now than in my yute days...
poverty alone is not enough to explain it...it's a spiritual direction the country has gone on;
it reflects in the music, the dancing, the violence- it manifests in every way...and the main culprits ARE THE LEADERS

many developed a false sense of security and even develope a sence of indifference to to ills of the nation when they live in gated communities.
Many shell out millions more for a gated community home, and thousands monthly for security fees.
This should buy them peace in paradise..

Imagine a great nation without an effective police force?
A crazy notion, but lets say that for a DECADE we transfer all the police and the system of provincial security from say Ontario to Jamaica, and in return we transfer the island security system and all its police officers to Ontario.

Expect any changes?

The problem in Jamaica is NOT the people.. Nuking Portmore, Kingston, Span town and Clarendon would only create a dusty breeding ground for a new set of hardened souls..

The problem in Jamaica is corrupt, inept law enforcement system.. The problem in Jamaica is the Jamaica Constabulary Force..

i ageee..the JCF is the instrument of the state and the face they show is that the state has no respct for the people...in return the people have no respect for the state (the jcf and the laws they are supposed to uphold)...so how do you reverse this..who blinks first?
