Reneto Adams VS Owen Ellington

Who do you think would make a better Police Commissioner of Police? Citizens on the island is calling for Reneto Adams they said that he is more effective and that no one knows when he is going on raids and so the bad men dem can't hide and so dem always caught and left in a body bag.

Owen Ellington well he is Crime Division head but don't know much about him and so the citizens can't say much about him. Now in my opinion I will go with Reneto him nuh take crap from no one and so the politicians have to keep out of the force and this is what we need. An uncorrupted Police Force.

My question to you is this, where else in the world would the type of policing that Mr Adams practice be accepted??
The type of policing that has been practiced by Mr Adams ans the policy division of the police force, is the reason why the crime rate is this high.
this has been going on since the days of slavery. It survived colonialism and was carried over to independence.
This type of policing is ideal for Colonies,and plantation slavery.
It is unsuitable for independent countries where the leaders have to live there.
Britain and the slave owners could use any means to achieve production.
They Never care about how many blacks were killed.and the people did not even have much contact with the police.

the police did not kill people wantonly in the process of their duty either.
So now that they police have to murder innocent people as collateral in their war,they create more enemies. Who would not want to avenge the death of their father, if he was killed innocently?

then again, who nows.. maybe in them wisdom them figure that since he is one of the chief architechs of the desperate quagmire that Jamaica finds itself it, then he'd be a good candidate to reverse engineer what he played a crutial role in creating..

It is called management by crisis. and it's the equivalent of driving a car down a steep hill with excellent steering and fully blind folded. they have the ability to steer, but will not know when to.
So they steer as soon as there is a crisis, like hitting a wall

We dont need a police force we need a police service....

Adams is a popular dinosaur.. popular but a dinosaur... Here is a questions that has bothered me.. Why does an Assistant Commisoner going on raids ????? Why does any command rank police man go on raids ????

I have a very good friend who is a Senior Inspector...He too goes on raids...

Command rank principally should be commanding, managing, analysing, coordinating, sorting budgets, deploying....

Is Adams capable of any of these roles or functions ????

Adams is a Sargent.. Brutal, unsophisticated a throw back.. Basically a popularist comparable ot Amin...

The police cannot solve crime in Jamaica. The expectation of the justice system is so low that Jamaicans see Renato and his ilk as justice and we are short changed...

i would not go as far as to say they cannot solve crimes..i think a lot of crimes are solved very quickly..the problem is that they do not do so in a way that enables them to be successfully prosecuted in the courts.

I'd go so far Rich. Based on just my own personal experience and loss alone, I'd go so far.

No police force anywhere can solve every crime but - JA police don't solve or close anywhere NEAR the amount of cases they should.

The majority was socialized into being ignorant aggressors by the society. Jamaica has not had an history with a police department,what is passed for police department in Jamaica was actually the exact system use by the British in ULSTER defence force.
It was never a police force.

It never acted as one. It didn't have to.

since Jamaica was owned by Britain and they could do as they please.

That is what it is rooted in that is what it has maintained for over 100 years and that is what it is today.
It never brought peace to Ulster,and it will never bring civility to Jamaica either.
since independence Jamaica never bothered to try to change the tactics. well over time the tactics is the weakness or Achilles heel of security.
They are the all powerful force of mostly middle school educated men with weapons and drill training. Too many of us are even aware that policing is not shooting up a neighborhood or cordon the whole area, aid states of emergency. I bet if we had to live it wee would not be as arrogant as those so don't suffer the result it.
Not being able to go to school work, lost of jobs because one was held for questioning,with no accusation of wrong doing.
If that is good for the poor, we need to have it up town and in the tourist areas too.
When is Jamaica going to start working at giving equal treatment to the majority blacks?
Is it because they are in the majority?
Or is it because they have been kept as near slaves with wages. I notice how they unceremoniously demoted 2 powerful black bankers. well they are coming hard after the biggest fish. Although he is part Asian, they think he think too black. watch fir the action of the IFC. Well they are not their own bosses.
Now you see the boss now you don't. He have ti say who he is.

With the nation in need of a top cop and applications already being tendered for the post of police commissioner, one group has taken the 'campaign' to the Internet with a web page advocating that the task be handed to former Senior Superintendent of Police, Reneto Adams.

The web page entitled 'Adams for Commissioner 2010' is featured on the popular social networking site, Facebook.com and has a growing membership of over 2,200 members, a figure that jumps by large increments every 30 minutes.

The creator of the group, who is not affiliated with Adams, said the forum was started on Friday night at about 10pm.

Since then she says the numbers are staggering. &quot;I'm not the first one to start an Adams support group, but I'm overwhelmed by the numbers,&quot; she said. &quot;I am a Jamaican who lives in Jamaica and is tired of the level of crime here and want to see an end to it ... . I believe that he (Adams) has the passion that can strategically bring that change.&quot;

The young woman said the page was created just to share that view. Surprisingly, a large number of other persons with Internet access share that view, including the man of the hour himself, Reneto Decardova Valentino Adams.

Speaking with THE STAR yesterday, the retired cop and hopeful police commissioner said that he was delighted after actually visiting the site on Monday night.

&quot;I'm very excited where the website and numbers are concerned,&quot; Adams said. &quot;When people think you would be a good commissioner it's a good thing. It shows that you have their support and co-operation. Once you have that then the intelligence will come.&quot;



controversial lawman
The controversial lawman said that while he is not bragging, the members in the support group is coming from just a small per cent of the populace with Internet access. He said the issue of him being appointed in the position is also a hot topic in barber shops, hair salons and markets.

Asked if he was confident he would be successful with his application, Adams responded: &quot;If they really want a commissioner to get the job done, then look in my direction. (However) If you want a commissioner that is ceremonial and just sits in the office, don't look in my direction ... because I will be out there with my men on operations. Not saying I would be out there all the time.&quot;

The lawman stressed that no Jamaican is satisfied hearing that the police caught the man who robbed or murdered a relative, despite whatever closure that may bring. &quot;Prevention is my thing. Jamaicans want to hear that the police prevented that crime from happening,&quot; he said.

Adams said that although his track record of pursuing criminals is outstanding there are factors that might prevent him from being chosen for the post.

&quot;For one, I wouldn't be protecting any hierarchy of anyone ... there are politics and politicians who may not want to see me as commissioner because they won't be able to have me as they would want to,&quot; he said. &quot;Then there is plain envy and those local and international criminal or human rights groups that may also object. For those reasons I may not be selected.&quot;

The outgoing commissioner Rear Admiral Hardley Lewin tendered his resignation last month following weeks of speculation that the crime chief and the Government were at odds. The resignation ended a two-year run for the retired army man and marked the end of the tenure for the nation's 26th police commissioner.
