Jamaica has moved up sixteen places in the 2015 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI).
This places the Caribbean country at 69 out of 168.
The new index was announced on Wednesday by Professor Trevor Munroe, Executive Director of National Integrity Action, a Jamaica based transparency watchdog.
He highlighted the fact that only eleven countries on the 2015 index had improved rankings of 16 or more places.
In the Americas, Jamaica had advanced from number 14 of 31 countries, in 2014, to number 7 of 26 countries in 2015, he reported, "being in the top quartile for the first time in nine years."
Previously, he said, Jamaica had "characteristically stalled in or near the bottom half of the ranking in the Americas.
