Who is more valuable to you?

An employee who is highly specialized in a small number of areas or one that is moderately specialized in a wide variety of jobs within the company?

Where I work, Mgmt considers and prefers.... French, relationships (bloodline/relatives etc), and butt kissers.... the order varies depending on the manager - none of which have any relevant business-type qualifications.

I don't qualify in any of those regardless of my qualifications.

neither...

you cant have an operations guy doing HR.. nor can you have an HSE doing operations..... Finace sticks to finance.. What pisses me off is there is a tendency to see the support processes as the function of a bizness and the profit centers are made subservient to the needs of the support.. as the guy saud in Third World Cop.. if mi want one mi guh to a specialist ....

Fundamentally I want folk who deliver profit as safely and as effiently as possible...
