Living in Jamaica, which as everyone knows, is a Black majority country, I always hear other Black Jamaicans refering to the "white" woman or "white" man...myself included. I feel it is a descriptive phrase just to differentiate from the general populous....is it racist?....I don't feel so....at least, not here. I don't take any offense to it....nuff word trow roun like "chiney man" or Miss Chin" or "Indian" and no one gets upset.

Yes, in Jamaica, the majority of the time those terms are used only to differentiate and not to offend.

i can't recall ever seeing any tv programs called "john the white boy" or "chin the yellow boy"...how about "tonto the red boy"...

but it's different when put into the public like that... somehow the powers that be feel making mascots out of historically oppressed peoples is a fun thing to do...
same thing with the native americans being made into mascots by the american sports teams- like cleveland indians, washington redskins, etc.
funny they don't have any teams like the idaho palefaces, or the ohio caucasians...

Mexico of all places with their overwhelming poverty is notorious for this.

It had made the evening news last year.

yes there are derogatory comments of every ethnic/racial/religious/gender/social groups on public websites...

now i'll wait for you to bring to my attention a television program where a character is described by their skin color in the title...
you miss the entire point; it's not meant to be derogatory- to them it would not seem racist- as it does not to you;

so i take it you are ok with a children's cartoon program being titled chin the yellow boy or jose the brown boy or tom the white boy?
...i'm just saying the very fact that they need to differentiate the boy's skin color is teaching them that skin color is a thing to be emphasized from an early age;
