Speaking of Coffins.....

.....why do the dance, play drums and swing the coffin at some Jamaican funerals. Just saw a video from the hills of Clarendon. I can't ask family as they are in mourning.

I have never seen this in Saint Mary but then I have only been to 2 funerals.

Read my lips. Cousins are in mourning....they are the ones who were swinging the coffin....I cannot ask them. It would be insensitive.

No it wouldn't. They would see it as an opportunity to educate their farrin fambly on the reason why they swing the coffin

I wouldn't think of asking them until after their period of mourning is over.

So I take it nobody on here knows the reason either. Okay tonx.
