Barbados gets negative rating

Barbados has moved from stable to negative on the rating scale of Standard and Poor's.

The ratings service agency says Bridgetown appears to be moving towards a possible second downgrade this year.

Stardard and Poor's said results for the first three quarters of the year underscore a rapid deterioration in Barbados' public finances, and a sharper economic contraction.

The agency cited a worse than anticipated recession for the island's current problems.

But Opposition Leader Mia Mottley puts it down to fiscal incompetence on the part of the present administration.

BARBADOS is not in dreadful economic straights even though its rating outlook has changed, says Olga Kalinina, Standard &amp; Poor's (S&amp;P) credit analyst.

While unemployment is on the rise, the fiscal deficit is widening and there is a decline in economic activity, Kalinina, who monitors Barbados and most of the Caribbean for the credit rating giant, said the island's economic picture wasn't ominous by any means.

&quot;The situation is not dire. From the rating you can see that the rating remains in the investment grade category, and that is one definition of not being dire. More than that, the rating itself has not been lowered. You see because I don't rely on data from other sources. I have a different view. I remember when Iceland trained to get Barbados to unite with them and try to head of the economic tsunami.
That Was over 2 years ago.

but I was warning about it a long time. Economics is a law. that was created by may. you cannot manipulate. just like maths.

eventually it will catch up on those who think they can use politics to control science.
You end up having to lie a lot and still look like a fool after all that effort.
I also remember when everybody use to expound about who have the best tourism this and the best tourism that.
I always say Jamaica tourism will outlast, survive and grow under conditions they rest could. It is not the appearance that is important It is the underlying principles.
Barbados like all the other bubble economies lack sound economic structure.
Jamaica lack sound economic principles, but it's population is already socialized to deal with the reality.

Invisible hand is for people who don't understand that economics is as exacting and cold as maths, physics, chemistry or any other science.

You can claim that you make stuff from DNA, but it will catch upon you like the south Korean scientist.
With all the checks and balances that was in place. It was economics that destroy the ponzi schemes.

some time ago a new member came here and post a question as to what sort of USA.
and I stated that it was a bankers economy.

This is because the majority of the economy existed in paper being created by banks that had no relationship to real value.

That is the same situation with these economies.
