Should Holness show leadership and schedule a debate with or without Ms. P?

If Ms. P does not attend then he should carry out his civic responsibility as a prospective leader of the nation and outline his vision for the future of Jamaica, and answer any relevant questions from the media. The main goal of the debate is to provide a platform for all candidates to ask for the peoples vote. If Ms. P thinks she has their vote and so doesn’t need to ask, that should not stop Mr. Holness from asking for the people’s vote. Mr. Holness should not limit himself by the actions of another candidate which is what our dear prime minister is at this point. Mr. Holness is too concerned with the other party, when he should be laser focused on making his case to the people of Jamaica. It is the people that matter the most. Right now Ms. P is leading him to do nothing, and if he continues to follow that lead I think he may end up in a place which he does not like.

Do you think this approach will help his case? And if he does nothing, who do you think will win?

I wish more would be said by both parties about how they plan to improve the Jamaican economy and reduce unemployment. Instead the focus is on whose house have in the most dutchie pot and whose varanda bigger than whose varanda. When we all know that both parties have their fair share of wealthy people. Some of those houses in the background of Mr. Holness’s house are sure to belong to members of the PNP. As a matter of fact didn’t Manley’s son say that he bought the house next door? And I am positive that if he really wanted that house he would have found a way to afford it.

My biggest concern is that many moons ago the Jamaican dollar was twice as strong as the US dollar. Now the US dollar is an unbelievable 120 times stronger than the Jamaican dollar with no reversal in sight and nobody seems to care about a reversal either.

My biggest concern is that many moons ago the Jamaican dollar was twice as strong as the US dollar. Now the US dollar is an unbelievable 120 times stronger than the Jamaican dollar with no reversal in sight and nobody seems to care about a reversal either.

Well the mere reversal is not panacea for all that is wrong with the Jamaican Economy. Clearly the Jamaican Economy needs to be expanded greatly. The more goods we sell the more we might desire a very competitive dollar vis-a-vis the USA Dollar, but if our Economy continues to be based almost exclusively on trading Paper, remittances and reselling Imports a devalued dollar will surely surely be one more heartburn to live with.

he IS n he HAS been doing so...walking thru the many villages of the island has been a town hall meeting of sorts...meeting the people where they live, seeing their plight upfront n discussing with them the issues of concern to them....townhall is fi di uppity ones who want American style politicking...townhall for those who live in areas where they can assemble peacefully, drive their own vehicles to said edifice n drive back home from choice...that is also in the works...nuff outreach has been going on ...that is why the PNP party exhibiting the behaviour its members have..desperation drive them to making his house an issue...my ONLY concern at this point is access to ballot boxes...nuff rigmarole been part of past elections , up to the last one...u will hear workers tell u things privately that they will NEVER say outloud....

funny enuff , those of us who have wanted to hear what he proposes, have been able to find out the many avenues he has used...as to the media, there is none in Jamaica that can be called neutral...one even published outright lies about the good gentleman...he has done an excellent job of outreach...and has not relied on innuendoes n just plain usual scare tactic...as to wanting to see both on television, well if one side seh dem nah debate it is hard to hold one..save that, u do what Hon Holness has been doing....there is one scheduled by a radio station that the governing party has finally agreed to attend..but when u realize that it is the same said one that put out the untruth about the Hon Holness, u haffi tek it wid a pinch of salt...

I don't discount a meeting folks in situ but i would not go so far as to say a town hall is for upper crust. A properly moderated town hall where the Candidate takes questions from the assembled is a good way to deal with the specific issues facing that person but may be relevant to others elsewhere who are tuning in.
The Townhall need not be a travelling event it could be conducted as a phone in with video and/or online?
