Perfect example of why we need to keep the Privy Council. Although I am not sure you can appeal decisions made by the Electoral Courts?Originally posted by evanovitch View Postthe issue seems to be on which side of the bell the Xs were marked..left or right, the marks were by the X..so i guess it will go to the courts n we will see just how blind justice is ...

Prime Minister, the Most Honourable Portia Simpson Miller is calling on all Jamaicans including supporters ofboth the People’s National Party (PNP) and the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) to remain calm in light of the prolonged recounting of ballotstaking place in some constituencies.
With reports of tension in some areas across the island the Prime Minister is appealing to supporters of both Parties to remain calm as the constitutionally prescribed processes continue.
“All Jamaicans have a responsibility to ensure that Jamaica’s reputation as a mature democracy is preserved and nothing causes hurt to anyone,”said Mrs Simpson Miller.
She added that our country has made important economic gains which Jamaicans cannot afford to reverse at this time and everyone must ensure that we put Jamaica first.

Final count halted in St Thomas Western, moved to EOJ HQ
KINGSTON, Jamaica — OBSERVER ONLINE has just been informed that the final count of ballots in the St Thomas Western constituency was halted a short while ago.

It is understood that electoral officials took the decision to halt the count and remove all the boxes to the headquarters of the Electoral Office of Jamaica in Kingston.
One electoral official told OBSERVER ONLINE that the decision to move the count to Kingston was based on getting the right conditions in place for the count to be done properly.
Electoral staffers, according to the source, were complaining that counting of the ballots in Yallahs was uncomfortable as the space they were working with was just too small to operate in.
The electoral official was quick to point out that this was not the first time in the history of elections in Jamaica that such a decision has been made by the EOJ.“It happened recently in St Andrew North East, St Andrew Eastern, and St Mary South East. It has been done regularly in the past.”
The St Thomas Western constituency was contested by James Robertson for the Jamaica Labour Party and Marsha Francis for the People’s National Party in the elections last week Thursday.

Paul Burke
The Jamaica Labour Party's (JLP) General Secretary Dr Horace Chang made the claim on Sunday, however, PNP, General Secretary, Paul Burke, says the statement is unsubstantiated.
“There are many bad rumours going around, the PNP has no plans to carry out any court action to stop Mr. Holness from being sworn in. We will accept the democratic results of the 2016 general election,” Burke said.

If the count stays as is with JLP holding 32 seats and the PNP holding 31, what is preventing a JLP member from crossing the floor and declaring they are now a PNP member of parliament, wouldn't that return Portia to power?
Andrew better chill for a bit because this could get real ugly real quick!
