Three major cruise lines, Carnival, Royal Caribbean and Norweigian Cruises have struck off a Bahamian attraction after 18 cruise passengers were robbed at gun point there last week.
The government has responded by beefing up security at tourist spots across the country.
The attacks followed another armed robbery of eleven tourists at a different attraction last month.
There has been a visible increase in police presence in almost every tourist area in Nassau this week following the armed robbery of 18 tourists last Friday.
National Security Minister Tommy Turnquest promised to relentlessly pursue the criminals involved who he accused of trying to damage the country's vital tourism industry.
"Every available asset and resource is being utilized to ensure we take this matter very seriously. This is our bread and butter," he said.
Police have since detained one of the employees of the tour company involved for questioning.
What makes this incident a whole lot worse is the bad press the country is now suffering as some of the tourists involved have posted videos online about the entire ordeal.
"At first I thought it was a joke. One of the guys with a shot gun told us to lay down. They said ‘lay down! Don't move! We shoot! We kill!'. They shot once and I was kicked in my side," one victim had posted.
In the meantime the operator of the tour company at the centre of the incident Terri Miller said he is beefing up security in hopes of getting his business back in the good graces of the cruise lines.
