Fire at J Wray and Nephew Limited

A fire is now raging at a section of J Wray and Nephew Limited on Spanish Town Road in Kingston.

The fire which started sometime after 6 ‘ o clock this evening is confined to the rear of the property where the barrels for rum are made.

An official at the company says the blaze has not affected its stock of liquor.

Seven fire units from the York Park and Trench Town stations are now trying to put out the blaze.

Wray and Nephew fire spreads

The fire on the compound of liquor manufacturers J Wray and Nephew Limited on Spanish Town Road <span style="font-weight: bold">has now spread to a wharehouse storing liquor. </span>
At least seven fire units from the York Park and Trench Town stations are battling the huge blaze which started just after 6 ‘ o clock this evening.

It is not yet clear what started the fire.

Several Cabinet ministers including Prime Minister Bruce Golding are now at the scene.
