Tivoli 'baller' killed
Former national representative and member of Tivoli Gardens football club, Orane Simpson, was stabbed to death during a dispute on Chestnut Lane, Denham Town, west Kingston last night.
THE STAR understands that Simpson, who until recently represented the Reggae Boyz, died after being rushed to the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) minutes after 8 p.m. Scores of his friends and supporters gathered outside the hospital after the incident, expressing their grief.
Up to late last night, the circumstances surrounding his death were not clear, but information reaching THE STAR indicated that Simpson was stabbed in his heart, hand and other sections of his body, during a dispute with a man from his community. It is understood that the two had a dispute early yesterday morning but the the issue quashed. Last night, however, another altercation developed between both parties and Simpson was stabbed.
Brian Rose, manager of Tivoli Gardens, the defending Digicel National Premier League champions, told THE STAR that he will be greatly missed by the club and his team-mates. "He was a warrior on the field, he was a fighter. He believed in winning to the very end," Rose said.
Simpson's warrior spirit was evident last season when he scored a goal to defeat Arnett and capture the Premier League title.
