Since in every society people tend to gravitate towards wealthier enclaves as soon as they are able and have access to it.

my take on his piece is maybe semantics..how u interpret the available data

our ancestors took to the hills, post slavery,BECAUSE the level lands, were all plantation lands and they were not going to work for said plantations...hence the run to places like Red Hills etc, wich ironically has become a place fi rich people

further some rich plantation personnel lived in the hills way bak, .e.g weh Irish Town etc deh, so as to get cool winds fi dem feverish white skin...dat was alll fi comfort n likkle fi do wid income


said way dem rushed to Manchester, wich being below sea-lvel affored dem some temparate climate relief

as to di ress....downtown , cross road etc had rich residential areas because rich merchannts needed to be near dem biznizes...horse n buggy ongle do so far n di horse can ride fi so long

as transportation improved, well, a one could move away freeing up downtown for more development

etc etc etc

the run to the hills was primarily in modern times fi heat relief

but u have always had rural communities in the hills wich today r being entrnched upon by mansions etc n den di mansion livers tun rung an a try gwaen like is not dem pushing out di longlivers n is not dem bring di problems to wat were longstanding vibrant peaceliving communities

I wrote almost identical piece in these pages about 3 to 4 years ago.

if we want to be pedantic about it.. Then the colonialist thought that there was sickenss in the swamps... and low lands from the miasma or morrning fogs....

No community should be of one socioeconomic class it is less efficent.. Housing should be integrated but this is not the case.. Forgive me but there is no way in hell that I would willingly live in what is so often called the ghetto given a choice... Please tekk me others would not submit their young daughters to those so called communtiy leaders or sexual predators. That is what I understand living in a poor area entails... I have zero sense of scale or location of Kingston.. so I would never seek to live there...

If you have the wherewithakk you can buy security and services while the rest rot... That is what the internal migration is...
