Man denies assaulting dog
A man accused of assaulting a dog belonging to another man and then attacking the man when he complained, pleaded not guilty to assault in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.
The accused man is Romane Anderson.
Allegations are that on October 10, the complainant was walking his two dogs in his apartment complex, when the accused reportedly hurled insults at him. It is alleged that the complainant stopped to ask the man who he was speaking to, when one of his dogs ventured near to the accused man's girlfriend who kicked it in the face.
kicked
The complainant voiced his disgust but the accused reportedly kicked the other dog. An exchange of words followed, after which the complainant was allegedly punched in the face, causing him to fall. He was then kicked in his back, ribs, groin and head. He was reportedly also punched again when he managed to get on his feet.
When the matter was mentioned, the court was told that the complainant had received a threatening phone call from persons telling him that if anything happened to the accused, he would die. The accused man's lawyer was instructed by Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey to warn his client.
The matter was set to return to court later this month.
