Here we I am we get our American network feeds from Buffalo. It seems very strange to me because the New Yorkers from NYC have totally different accents from those in and around Buffalo, even though both cities are in the same state and really not that far apart.

Canadians is a funny set.
I have friends from Vancouver and Calgary that don't sound that much different from those in the Toronto area, but head up to the Ottawa valley right area here in Ontario and their language is somewhat different.
Rural Newfoundland people have a totally different language altogether, sort of their version of patwa.
