I always wondered whether those who are raking in billions were not benefitting from the &quot;free&quot; stuff as well.

Kids should be taught that nothing is free. Afterall, they are not the ones who really benefit from the free rides, it is their thieving parents. </div></div>

Kids do need to get to school and since NYC does not have an ample school bus system the MTA was used. Now if parents are struggling, how can they now add bus/train fare for their kids to get to school? That may result in more truancy

of course he wouldn't do it- they have all types of excuses of why they could never use their personal wealth for the public good (unless that public good involves them being in office another term- for that their personal wealth is no object ) ...his pesonal wealth is far more than the mta deficit and covering it would not result in $1.00 in his bank account...
the problem is that society is not outraged that they would even consider this while tax money-bailed-out-banks are paying out billions in bonuses... </div></div>

Unlike other cities/towns, NYC does not have a public school bus system to bus school children. The system they currently use accomaodate phycially/mentally challenged students, etc. Healthy students without issues and/or disabilities take public transportation. (they can drive their own cars, or walk).

yea it's amazing to see some people give the benefit of the doubt to billionaire bankers over the likkle yutes trying to get an education...
last thing i heard they are trying to come to some agreement...
the society's priorities are seriously mis-placed...

there has to be more transparency from the mta...

the gov is saying he will try and bring back the reduced/free ride after a while, but we done know how dat go already, dem naa go gi u, tek it bak, and gi u it back again, nothing no go so~~

Something like how they threaten to raise the fare a dollar, let the public scream and yell and then give in and only raise it fifty cents. </span>

What I find funny are parents who claim they can't afford to send their kids on public trans to school, but are driving Escalades, wearing designer clothes, eating out 3 to 4 times a weeks, have hundreds of bags and shoes, always shopping, and have all of the latest gadgets and techno in their homes.

Now THAT makes me laugh.

yes i agree their auditors need to be fired, cause it seems like the last increase in fares went directly to executive compensation and not for upgrading the entire MTA.

Transporting the children to school is an expectation of any school district, as far as I know. Sure, there are some people that drive expensive cars, etc, but that's hardly the norm. And this change would not only affect those overspenders that you mentioned, but the regular spenders and barely making it, too.</span>

and why are MTA employees allowed to ride free..even after they're retired????

my gf works for mta and she's tripping because they're talking about cutting her salary 10%...but she's not received a pay raise in yrs..
