What about a mother with an arm baby in a blanket???? That is something that covers the lap that things can be concealed under. I don't think these people would think twice about sacrificing a child.

i fly alot.. now for the positive side of the latest attempt.. I don't just hate a guy who has a Jamaican connection every time I remove my shoes at the air port.. Now a Nigerian will share my ire!!!!

What is going to happen at airports when someone blows their fool self up in the check in before you get to security? ... or they blow themselves up in the traffic jam outside the airport?... or they blow themselves up in the local mall?

Airlines are in the business of making a profit and ultimately it is their customers who determine just how much they will put up with inconveniences of air travel. Since 9/11 I have seen regulations come and go - I fly frequently and I fly out to Washington National airport. I think the body scan technology (see through your clothes) security thing is going to be standard soon.

That really won't stop anything. The type of plastic explosive - PETN - is undetectable with current screening procedures. In fact, it is possible to actually weave the material into garments. The slippery slope will eventually lead to TSA-assigned hospital-type gowns required off all passengers.

WASHINGTON – The same Detroit-bound Northwest Airlines flight that was attacked on Christmas Day saw another security scare Sunday during a confrontation with a sick passenger from Nigeria, officials said.

Security and airline personnel have been on edge since authorities charged a passenger — also from Nigeria — with attempting to detonate a hidden explosive device while his flight from Amsterdam approached Detroit on Friday.

<span style="font-weight: bold">On Sunday, the flight crew became concerned after the passenger became sick and spent about an hour locked in the bathroom, officials said.</span>
&quot;This raised concerns so an alert was raised,&quot; FBI spokeswoman Sandra Berchtold said. &quot;The investigation shows that this was a non-serious incident and all is clear at this point.&quot;

The pilot of the Sunday flight requested emergency assistance upon arrival, sending federal authorities scrambling to respond.

The Transportation Security Administration said the airline alerted authorities to a &quot;disruptive passenger&quot; on board flight 253, who was taken into custody when the plane landed.

Two law enforcement officials, speaking on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the incident, said the crew apparently acted out of an abundance of caution.

Post-flight interviews by investigators determined the passenger was a legitimate businessman who posed no security threat to the plane, the two law enforcement officials said.

White House officials briefed President Barack Obama on the incident.
