Violence shattered a high profile New Year's party in St. Andrew early Friday morning claiming one of the first murder victims of 2010 in the Corporate area.
Gunmen early Friday morning invaded the Hennessy Black and White new year's eve party at the arena, shooting and killing a patron.
The incident occurred just as patrons exiting the National Arena after a night of partying.
But as the massive crowd filed out of the National Arena minutes after seven Friday morning two men reportedly rode up on a motorcycle.
One of the men then entered the building and loud explosions were heard.
The gunshots sparked panic among patrons who scrabbled for the the door in a bid to escape any possible injury.
When the massive crowd had exited, 37-year-old Patrick McDonald of Cromarthy, St. Catherine lay dead on the floor.
He had been shot several times in the head.
It is believed his attacker escaped shortly after on the waiting bike.
The Police, who were promptly on the scene, quickly tried to clear the area which was now teeming with curious on lookers.
Promoters of the show D and L promotions who were devastated by the incident said all was done to put in place adequate security at the venue.
