This is a very interesting discussion that I have been taking in from the balcony.
Anyway, my only contribution at this point is to make note of the fact that implicit in any discussion of a first cause or "where things came from" is the idea that there was a 'beginning of time' and 'nothingness' before that.
These concepts are a human invention. What we actually see in the world around us is a universe that is in constant transformation from one state to another.
