Using Obama's Image to Advertise a Jacket in New York

The clothing company is calling it The Obama Jacket; he was photographed wearing it in China.

Weatherproof and its ad agency know full well that any controversy - even being told to take down the billboard - will be nothing more than good, extra publicity.

But I do undertsand them NOT wanting their images to sell products. Plus aren't pics of the Prez done by his own Photographer COPYRIGHTED Dem noh coulda get in legal trubble fi dat?

Anyways on the flip side ..all dis ago do now is raise the stock of the jacket maker.. the train lef di station already and this <span style="font-style: italic">controversy </span>just gwine peak consumer insterest in the wear. Mission accomplished.

This is right around the corner from my office - it went up this week.

They're supposed to be taking it down.

The nerve of these people.

But you're so Wendy - mission has been accomplished. Even if they are penalized with some huge fine, it'd almost be worth every penny.

NEW YORK (AP/ 1010 WINS) -- An outerwear company says it will cooperate with a White House request to take down a huge Times Square billboard that uses President Barack Obama as a pitchman.

In about two weeks, that is.

Freddie Stollmack, the president of Weatherproof, told The Associated Press he'd heard from the White House and decided to cooperate with its request to halt the ad campaign. But he says it will take some time. He aims to remove the Times Square billboard and another one on the Long Island Expressway by Jan. 22, after figuring out a new ad campaign.

The company used a recent Associated Press photo of the president wearing one of its jackets in front of the Great Wall in China for the ad, which carries the tagline, &quot;A Leader In Style.''
