Is Our Little Genius full of little cheaters?</span>
Fox sent out a statement late yesterday afternoon announcing that the game show – which pits pint-sized brainiacs against one another for cash – is being pulled off the schedule and being re-shot.
And it sounds like, from the comments that creator Mark Burnett (Survivor, Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?) made, perhaps information was leaked to the children.
“I recently discovered that there was an issue with how some information was relayed to contestants during pre-production of Our Little Genius,” Burnett said in the statement.
“As a result, I am not comfortable delivering the episodes without re-shooting them. I believe my series must always be beyond reproach, so I have requested that Fox not air these episodes.”
“We respect and appreciate [Mark’s] due diligence and the decision to pull these episodes,” Fox responded.
“We agree there can be no question about the integrity of our shows. While these episodes will not air, the families who participated will receive their winnings, and we are grateful for their participation.”
Our Little Genius was scheduled to air on Wednesday, Jan. 13; instead a repeat of The Simpsons’ 450th episode at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT, following a new, plumped-out episode of American Idol.
