Muslim human rights officials have called street demonstrations on Friday to protest the detention of a Jamaican cleric at a Nairobi prison, The Nation newspaper of Kenya has reported.
The Kenyan government has said that Sheik Abdullah el-Faisal was jailed because he is a threat to the security of the country.
Attempts to deport the cleric last Thursday failed because he was denied a transit visa when he arrived in Nigeria en route to Gambia, which had agreed to host him.
Muslim groups in Kenya have expressed their displeasure at how his case has been handled.
