An indepth interview will be on TVJ tonight and over the next three nights....It will be done by Earl Moxam..... so if any of you can get a recording done by a contact that would be great.......I heard a taster on that's a rap on Sunday.....He discussed Marcus Garvey.....

For those who dont know the significance...He was a journalist and author from South Africa who lived in Jamaica......Peter Abrahams was the voice of Africa so many of us older folk listened to as night fell... We loved that gravelly voice. .He was the man who taught me of apartheid in Tell Freedom.... and what Ras actually meant.... I recall one commentary on Portuguese colonialism...another on packaging....so the range was varied.. I confess I haven't read all his books... but Udomo was phophetic....

He wrote a book in the 1950's on Jamaica for the Colonial office that is worth reading....(preface by Winston Churchill)... I think that captures a mood that is surprising....
Yes there will be those that condemn him for marrying a jew, then a Dutch lady....a sell out... but that is a minority......and shows insecurity...

u know, a former school mate has asked me to recommend 5 MUST READ Jamaican novels.

the FIRST one i recommended was VIEW FROM COYABA..

btw, eat ur heart out but i own a first edition MINE BOY, MINT condition....picked it up a couple years ago here in Canada in a Goodwill Store....i had to have it regardless of cost.........

Guess our version of Jamaica is dated.....I think he is an important part of our narrative.... I knew you two get it.... and would want to h e ar what he has to say... I know in his commentaries and columns I would not agree with him on every thing. have u ever read the 2 volume collection of Morris Cargill's columns...another of my prized collection of our books...fabulous reading his columns from before Independence so come up

and of course i know u know of his books...he also wrote with Hearn didn't he...Morris was a part owner in the development of Tia Maria
