Hey guys,
I'm a student from Germany and I'm working on a study of british and american english words used in Jamaica. I want to find out which words from which country are used more often.
Could you please help me and tell me which words you use for some car parts?
I know you use bonnet (BrE) instead of hood (AmE) for obvious reasons^^,
I also found out you use trunk (AmE) instead of boot (BrE)...
now what about theses words:
numberplate (BrE) - license plate (AmE)
sidelight (BrE) - parking light (AmE)
windscreen wiper (BrE) - windshield wiper (AmE)
tyre (BrE) - tire (AmE)
wing (BrE) - fender (AmE)
windscreen (BrE) - windshield (AmE)
wing mirror (BrE) - side mirror (AmE)
petrol cap (BrE) - gas tank door (AmE)
mudflap (BrE) - splash guard (AmE)
aerial (BrE) - antenna (AmE)
or are there even some patois words for car parts???
I'd appreciate any kind of help,
thank you very much.
