incidence of gun killing seem to drop , since police gun expose'??
Is it just me? Or is it because I expected thi stop be the case.
I alluded about it many times about the police direct involvement in many of these murders. That is separate from the selling of weapons and ammo to criminals.

Dr. Dudd. I too feel that way but my mom would say, "Christopher Columbus!"

It has long been suspected that the police were <span style="text-decoration: underline">the</span> problem and not the solution to problems from my pet peeve night noise to ...you name it. I hear it everyday from Jamaicans for Justice to the household helper.

In Jamaica, the police apparently rush in where angels fear to tread. So it profits them when law-abiding citizens are cowering in fear. Just name the businesses that you would have second thoughts about owning and I bet that more and more they are being owned or exploited by police &quot;officers&quot;.

A discovery was made recently in Ramble, Hanover. Latest Police Scandal Do you think that this is an isolated case? Stretch your mind a bit and imagine what would happen to an owner if he protested that his confiscated bus or taxi was being used to enrich someone else? Or if the vehicle crashed and there had to be a cover up.

What is more scores of corrupt officers are being given a slap on the wrist and kicked out of the force to prey on society. The potential is therefore there for the creation of scores of criminals with police connections, and simultaneous production of scores of criminals wid secret fi de Babylon dem weh still deh eena di force.

Our &quot;brilliant&quot; new acting commissioner is asking these people to change. How? Especially with the police still policing the police.

There is news reports of at least 3 gun killing s per day for everyday for the last decade.
How many gun killings have been reported perday since the exposure of the police armoury misuse of weapons?
How many was reported today?

how many yesterday?
How many since the report of teh incidence?
Does it take high science, to recognize this fact?

All the shootings and gun killings I see involve the police.

All of a sudden the murder rate has fallen from 5 per day average, to none reported per day.

seem like common sense.
Unless we want to blame the usual suspects instead of the real criminals.
We created an industry on the basis of the old system it is difficult to even accept we are wrong and have been wrong all this time.
We created the problem and want to maintain it, while blaming the created boogieman for the problem.

I dont really see the connection between the recent police /gun expose and the fall in murders,...if indeed there IS a fall.
The guns that were out there on the streets before are still out there,and the murderers are still out there,and the conditions that feed crime and murder is still there.

You always have a problem with inductive reasoning. You are always stuck on the accepted. Why you couldn't think of the possibility that the guns that have been used were
1. used by the police to create mayhem, while blaming the unwashed.
2.that the police may hav been hyring out the weapons and have them returned . or
3 possibly the police arms have been out of the armoury all thi s time and have been used.
but due to the fact that they are now captured and in the hands of the authorities, they are not available to continue the mayhem.

Anyway,I didnt say there is no relationship between the bust and the murder rate,...I said there was no connection between the expose and the reduction in murders,if any.
From what I read about the incident,the cop was about to introduce <span style="font-weight: bold">more guns</span>onto the streets,...or the same guns that were previously confiscated from murderers.

Have you ever thought that what you read was simply speculation?
I am sure with the resultant experience of the drastic reduction in the gun killing rate,you will soon see a more relevant 'speculation of the true status of the guns.
I am suggesting that this was not a discovery of a new program.
It was the discovery of a long running program in which the crime rate has been artificially increased, with the assistance of member s of the police force.

How many times I have stated this before??

BALLISTIC tests have shown that several gun murders have been committed with weapons registered to the police armoury and stores, impeccable Observer sources said yesterday.

Hard statistics were not immediately available on the number of murders linked to police guns -- which were either rented or sold to criminals -- but the revelation yesterday suggested that unscrupulous cops have for a while been illegally removing weapons from the constabulary's armoury.

&quot;We have identified a number of recycled weapons from the armoury and ballistics have shown that they were used to commit murders,&quot; the high-level Observer source said on condition of anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the ongoing investigations.

Jamaica last year had a record 1,680 murders, one of the highest in the world outside of war-torn areas.

Forensic auditors have since last week been pouring over the armoury, reviewing security procedures and hoping to unearth clues about the movement of state guns to the underworld, following the dramatic arrest of a highly favoured police sergeant.

In a clinical raid that was immediately rewarded by Acting Police Commissioner Owen Ellington, the police netted 19 guns, 10,600 rounds of assorted ammunition, police vests and $787,000 in cash at two locations in East Kingston and later traced the guns, ammunition and police vests to the armoury.

Two civilian workers and a businessman have also been arrested in connection with the find. None of the arrested persons have yet been charged.

The Observer's own investigations have uncovered that security has been lapse at the armoury for years and the number of weapons that may have been removed from the sensitive area could be mind-boggling.

&quot;There is no security down there, no closed-circuit TV system, no secure entry system, only a lock and a key. It is crazy,&quot; the source marvelled.

The armoury is run by the constabulary's administration arm, which is headed by Deputy Commissioner Jevene Bent. But it's a deputy superintendent who has direct control of the armoury and stores and is the one who controls the keys to the section where weapons and ammunition are stored, the source stated.

The source also rued the fact that despite the systems at the armoury being in place for decades, no one had decided to examine them until the embarrassing arms seizure.

&quot;Anyone could access that key. Systems and procedures were not in place and there was not even 24-hour security. The Police High Command should have provided proper infrastructure,&quot; the source suggested.

A day after the cache of weapons was discovered, Ellington announced that security procedures at the armoury were adequate but it was a breach of trust which resulted in the weapons being removed.

But the source dismissed Ellington's claim.

&quot;You can't trust people in those sensitive areas. You need to put in place systems which make it extremely difficult for any breaches to occur,&quot; said the source.

The armoury and stores is supposed to be a sterile storage area for all the weapons which are distributed to the 19 police divisions across the island as well as weapons which have been taken off the streets, are defective or have been taken out of commission.

The smashing of the arms-smuggling ring has dealt the force another black eye and should bring police officers of a higher rank under pressure to account for the lapse in security.

However, the source was not too optimistic that any cop of a gazetted rank would be disciplined.

&quot;It should be so, but you won't see that in this organisation,&quot; the source told the Observer.

Yesterday, members of the Inspectorate of the Constabulary pressed ahead with their audit to determine the exact number of guns, ammunition, vests and other equipment which may have gone missing from the armoury.

&quot;The audit will take ages but it should be interesting to see what it finds out,&quot; the source said with obvious scepticism.

More than 10,000 murders have been committed in Jamaica in the last decade and the majority of them were committed with the gun.

I didnt know the jamaican people had any trust in the police force,come on mate,you and I both know that most people a yard know that the police force is institutionally corrupt,when news like this hit the streets its no surprise to joe bloggs.

The Day they stop trusting the police is the day the society fall apart.
Since the police is the only source of security.
