Understood Wendy. Mi ah discuss fi get balance pan both sides as well.

As it was explained to me once. "If the supplier complain, Wal-mart brow-beat dem into submission. Also, because of their mere size an influence, Wally can drive dat supplier out of business, and use dem as an example tuh others suppliers who won't fall in line. They can also under-cut other store so the supplier product won't sell and therefore, those store stop taking orders of that product from said supplier."

Good point.

However, could it be that Toy-R-Us is providing jobs, and compitition in the community without trying to crush the small businesses under its feet at the sane time? That has a long term cost attached to it.

We can say the same thing about those of us who still support the local Caribbean Stores, even though other big chains carry similar product at a much lower cost. We want them to survive, because they were there providing the service, and jobs when else nothing was around.

Our parents and grandparents understood this concept, why don't we as the younger generation understand it?

I do .. But not everything is cheaper at Walmart. It depends on the Sale elsewhere ..Sometimes a Sale at Target can Beat a Walmart price but not always.

But as yuh talking about comparison shop..Walmart have folks on the payroll dedicated to do that they &quot;shop&quot; other stores and set their prices based on the competitor's price. Not dem a alone do dat.. The grocery store chains shop their competitors too. My girlfriend is one a those &quot;shoppers&quot; for her store.

I try to live by this, but sometimes it's just so hard!!!! So sometimes I'll shop at Walmart, resentfully, but they don't care, they're still getting my money. When I've got more of it, I shop at the little African/Caribbean store down the road.

The little Afo/Carib store isn't going to last. I don't have enough money to shop there as regularly as I'd like and just about everyone else is in the same situation.

So Walmart wins. Unfortunately.

just like there is a trend for people to move toward their community banks, people will want to shop with the people in their community.. it will take a lot of time but will happen again.

Personally I do not shop at Wal Mart and aside from Costco have moved toward supporting the little guy. Local contractors support the local lumber yards, hardware stores, etc.. so why can't we do our share.

As for all of the made in China stuff when the next big scare about toxins in the China products come out will you still feel the same about Wally's world?
