In terms of performance, Obama has improved considerably compared to his often weak performances as candidate, so much so that he seems to relish these kinds of fora.
But for what? He knew that facade yesterday would not move the repugs one iota closer to his position. They entered the room with fixed positions, and left even more hardened. It was just one big show! Was it an opportunity to show the country how intransigent the repugs are? Well, any rational person already knew that.
Those people are determined to see him fail. They will concede nothing that will give Obama a victory on any domestic policy initiative. And Obama still clings to some naive notion of bi-partisanship. A robust bill passed using the "nuclear option" is the only way to avoid a bloodbath come November. We already see some dems running for the hills.
