Marie Osmond's son found dead

Marie Osmond's teenaged son, Michael Blosil, was found dead on the ground below an apartment balcony last light in Los Angeles, ABC reports.

"My family and I are devastated and in deep shock by the tragic loss of our dear Michael and ask that everyone respect our privacy during this difficult time," ABC quoted the entertainer as saying.

Blosil has struggled with depression in the past, people.com reported today.

A Los Angeles police spokesman said a suicide occurred Friday night in the area between 9 and 10 p.m., but the victim’s name and details had not been released.

Marie Osmond is a member of the Osmond family of singers that rose to fame in the 1970s. Marie and her brother Donny hosted a hit TV variety show, which featured appearances by their seven brothers. The Osmond Brothers and Donny and Marie also recorded several hit singles.

More recently, Marie Osmond appeared on the popular TV show "Dancing With the Stars," and she and Donny are currently headlining a Las Vegas show.

That's sad. She herself was going through some really bad changes there at one time mentally I believe. Perhaps something is running through the family genes.

Burying your child had to be tough, but from suicide must be especially hard.

loss of a child is the worse for any parent. my parents lost a son to suicide...

hope to god i would not utter something mean and nasty when it comes to death of someone

It is always sad to lose a loved one. Make the family find comfort in Jesus Christ. Depression is a hard thing on the mind and when persons depend on the pills then they will never come force to force with their problems.

Depression is a chemical issue how does that affect facing problems?

Because when the person feeling depression is taking their meds, they feel so well that they don't feel that they need their meds any more. Not taking their meds, the feelings of depression returns, and they don't have the meds to ameliorate the drive to commit suicide. Sad cycle.

I am aware of queenB but the previous poster was alluding to dependency on the pills does not help the person deal with their issues which seemed 'off' to me.

Mi neva kno dat all depression is a chemical issue.

Mi feel sey di phrase mean sey if people continue to mask dem problems by burying dem in a long-term dependency pon drugs, dem will never face di real issues and deal widdi REAL problems and wen di drugs wear awwf even likkle bit dem face dis typea ending and it nuh solve nutt'n.
