NEW YORK (CBS) ―


The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating employees at the Kennedy Airport air-traffic control tower for apparently allowing a school-age child to transmit directions to pilots.

The young boy, apparently under adult supervision, made a handful of transmissions to pilots on a tape deemed genuine by the FAA.

Talking bout a dead cat <span style="text-decoration: line-through">caused</span> WAS the distraction that caused the crash.


An air traffic controller was joking on the telephone about barbecuing a dead cat minutes before a small plane collided with a tour helicopter over the Hudson River, transcripts obtained Wednesday by The Associated Press show.

Nine people, including five Italian tourists, died in the Aug. 8 accident.

in one case the controller was not doing his/her job. in the other case they were supervising somebody else doing the job.
